Well - so the Director that drives me crazy and who booted me off my biggest project for making him look bad (sadly I am not even kidding) has resigned. Woo hoo! The big project (call it... uh.. "Greek God Project") has been doing very badly under his guidance, and the people involved have been quietly asking to have me return for some weeks. So - this would be a great time to jump back in, right?

Well - there is only one problem. With Director Jerk gone, the project has reverted to his VP. Since he was reorganized just after I left the project, this VP has no idea who I am. So - I suggested I become a part of the project again, and the VP wants to meet me so she can learn about "the role I could play" on it.

This is intensely frustrating, because the role I had was actually that of the Director. It was MY project. I owned the solution - I designed the solution. I managed the staff. I was the first point of escalation; the person who everyone took issues to and I said "go this way". If there was someone to be smacked down, I did it. I also handled the dollars and the executive team, and was the representative on the executive steering committee. I was the representative with the vendors, negotiated the statements of work, and kicked their asses when they didn't deliver. The new VP has already assigned a Director to handle Greek God Project. Given that, I don't want to be involved anymore.

Unfortunately, "Uh - I want to have full control or I don't want to play" is considered a negative worktrait.

Thursday should be interesting.

Oh, FUN (!)

Can't ya just tell the VP that you're blatantly better than the current Director of the project, ANYWAY?

What?! That's considered a negative thing too? Pffft... if she can't handle the truth, she needs to be set upon by your hit squad.

Which brings me to my second suggestion! I agree with Syro. F, Syro and (now me too 'cause *I* wanna join the squad!) can totally band together and take this other Director down. (It's nothing personal. He/she is just... in the way!) They'll never know we were there! We'll be subtle about it. Okay, maybe not. Maybe we'll have to leave Syro behind... or have her be the "distraction", but it could work!

In all seriousness though, I hope it works out in SOME way so that if you do end up involved, you're able to take a role you're happy with. Keep us posted (and let me know if we need to "mobilise" ;)). :)

I do hope it works out, but the history of things working out with this project is really really poor. I'll still give it a shot. Stay tuned.

No ..uh.. commando raids required.

Why do I automatically get left behind? I *can* be subtle!
