Summary: McKay, Lorne, and three teams of Marines head out on a research mission to a planet on the edge of the galaxy, and disappear without a trace. Eight months later Lorne returns with two injured team members, a counterfeit McKay, and no explanations. What the hell happened eight months ago, and where's McKay?

A/N: This is NOT woobie!slavefic. Nor is it woobie!whump or other woobie. It is an action, war, battle, overcoming odds, Sci Fi story. The title, while relevant (I promise!) is NOT a nod to any form of emo angst through emotional abuse. (Apparently it's a trope! Who knew? Author's note courtesy of comments from brave readers!)

I'm so glad! You know, if I'd *thought* about it (or if I'd googled the title rather than just using it) I probably would have clued in a lot earlier. It was a note in friendshipper 's journal talking about the trope that twigged me to it. *headdesk*

Though, I imagine there are plenty of folks who won't read because it *isn't* woobie!emo!angst!
