The Gods Got Me

In the last several days my body has decided that I am just too old to be ignoring things. I've got an epic cold (not the 'flu, at least!), and one of my teeth has developed a significant infection, to the point where I'm swollen up and it's itching inside the bone.

Argh!!!

Oh, sweetie. You need to get some anti-biotics for that tooth infection. I know what you're going through there. Dental pain is the worst. You take care of yourself, get some chicken soup or something! :)

Good suggestion. I went to an emergency clinic yesterday with a nice but disapproving dentist, who reluctantly wrote me a prescription for some very strong antibiotics with the admonition that they will be 'hard on my system'.

I looked at him with my eyes streaming and red, my nose red and stuffy, coughing, clearly feverish, and we both just laughed at the same time, and he acknowledged that in my current shape I might not notice.
