The Story on The Screening

skinscriptWell - the screening did show me one thing for sure. If you have a vision as a writer, go be a director. *laughs*
There were 11 films screened; most of them repetitions of the same scripts. There were three scripts to choose from, and each director selected one and then made a film of their interpretation of the source material. I saw vastly different interpretations of the same script; completely unique in some cases, completely insane in others, and of course several similar ones. It is absolutely the case that a film can be made or destroyed by the director's vision of the story, sometimes in fascinating ways.
For myself, I had never even conceived of the interpretation I saw. The director definitely had a completely different view of the scenario than I did, and I found it interesting to see how the approach differed from that in my head. I think that I'd like to see more of how others literally view what I write, so I may stay in scripting a bit longer.
