Back from Maui with good news, bad news, and other bad news

Hey everyone

Seems like it's been an exciting couple of weeks while I was gone.

The good news is I had a fantastic time overall.

The bad news part 1 is that I had a somewhat spectacular beach accident and ended up with dislocated toes and really horrible bruising on my left foot. It laid me up for a few days and is still being a hell of a bitch.

Bad news part 2 is that I wasn't able to work on Atlantis Big Bang at ALL while I was gone, which means that I believe I am out for this year.

The ...er... mitigating news? Is that I still plan on writing Unleashed; it will just take longer than expected.

My foot's close to back to normal (wooo!), but it was quite a mess for a while. I stubbed the toes again on Wed, just a little, then had a four mile wilderness walk followed by 14 hours in travel, so it's pretty cranky today. :)

How does one dislocate ones toes?

One hits them *really* hard from an angle with a rock. :)

I was running on a beach and essentially tripped over a submerged chunk of lava rock, that was just the right shape to focus all my (substantial) weight on the back of two toes, which ended up with twist dislocations. The back and underside of my foot also ended up impressively bruised.

Pretty much all better now though, once the travel trauma is all done!

The vacation started with the injury, actually! Overall it healed pretty fast I think, and Mr and MiniMe still went out and did snorkelling and swimming and such while I was laid up so I wasn't too upset. It's almost all better, though I'll likely have some joint stiffness the rest of my life.
